Enclosed is an application for registration with the Triangle South Officials Association and or the Triangle Softball Officials Association for the 2008 baseball/softball season.
For those that have not heard, I am the new booking agent for the Triangle Softball Officials Association. In order to coordinate the association business, I have renamed HJOA to Triangle South Officials Association. This will enable me to utilize the ?TSOA? initials for both organizations. I will soon have a webpage at www.TriangleOfficials.org along with the www.hjoa.org web page.
If you desire to register, please fill out the application and return it to me prior to January 15, 2008. The booking fee for school and/or recreation games is $60.00 this year. If you wish to register with Tar Heel Leagues with an opportunity to call District or State Tournaments in Baseball or softball you may include an additional $10.00 registration fee which I will pay directly to Tar Heel Leagues Incorporated. Tar Heel Leagues has added 14 under softball and younger ages to their Championship Series.
TSOA is constantly looking for new umpires. If you know someone that is interested in umpiring during the upcoming season, have them get in contact with me as soon as possible and/or attend our clinics early. They do not need to wait till clinics are over and then decide they want to call.
Everyone should attend NCHSAA State softball & baseball clinics that are scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Middle Creek and Apex Community Centers, respectively in coordination with the Triangle Softball Officials Association and the Capitol Area Umpires Association. The TSOA Association meeting will follow at 3:00 pm.
If you have not registered with the NCHSAA for the upcoming season you need to do so immediately. Their registration ends January 15, 2008. To register you must go online to http://www.nchsaa.or...index.pl?pgid=6 and click on ONLINE OFFICIATING REGISTRATION. Once you are in you must complete the registration process online and then mail your registration fee to: NCHSAA, PO Box 3216, Chapel Hill, NC 27515. I will again be booking varsity baseball and softball games at several private high schools this year. Umpires must be registered with the NCHSAA to call school games. If you are not, I will not be able to use you under any circumstances. By registering you receive rule books and insurance with the NCHSAA and the NFHSAA.
Local clinics will start on Sunday, February 3rd at 5:00 pm. Our local clinics will be at Harnett Central Middle School this year. Drive around the back of the building. We will meet in the first classroom hut. We will meet on Sundays through February. As always, there will be scrimmages for us to cover and work on the field. All umpires should attend six clinic meetings and at least one scrimmage, High school umpires must attend six clinics and call three scrimmages.
The baseball & softball Exams will be online, more information at our meetings.
